Inpatient Coder (FT)
Schedule: Full-time
Location: USA – Remote
Start Date: Position open until filled
Job Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes upon review of clinical documentation for selection of appropriate primary and secondary diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, and procedures if performed
- Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, HACs, and PSIs
- Ensure APR-DRG, MS-DRG assignment is optimal and accurate
- Assign appropriate POA (present on Admission) indicator
- Assign the appropriate discharge disposition
- Maintain coding accuracy of 98% or higher
- Abide by AHIMA standards of Ethical coding
- Adhere to Official Coding Guidelines, facility-coding guidelines, and published official advice
- Maintain a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques through participation in continuing education programs
- Assist with special projects as required
Inpatient Coder Job Requirements:
- Must have at least one of the following coding credentials: RHIT, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA
- Minimum of 3 years’ inpatient coding experience
- Experience with multiple EHR, Encoder and CAC systems, preferred
